A Case of T-cell Lymphoma Associated with Hemophagocytic Syndrome

Abstract
|
|
|
A patient with immunochemically confirmed T-cell Iymphoma associated with
hemophagocytic syndrome is reported.
The clinical course was characterized by hepatosplenomegaly, fever and Pancytopenia
and pathologically activation of benign histiocytes with marked erythrophagocytosis was
seen in BM biopsy, simulating histiocytic medullary reticulosis.
Immunologic and cytochemical studies indicated the Iymphoma to be of T-cell origin.
A likely mechanism for hemophagocytic syndrome is the production of Iymphokines
(macrophage-activating factors)by neoplastic T Iymphocytes.
